In an great finish the Brooklyn Grooms won in dramatic fashion over the
Baltimore Orioles by a score of 9 to 8 at Eastern Park.
Brooklyn scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Con Daily got things going
when he laced a one-base hit. Billy Shindle next to the plate and he was hit
by a pitch. Candy Lachance then doubled giving Brooklyn the win much to the
delight of the home town crowd. The game was a wild affair with the lead
changing hands 7 times.
Dan Daub(13-8) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Kid Gleason(9-6) was
the losing pitcher. He saw his ERA jump from 5.04 to 5.29 as gave up 9 runs
in 8 and 1/3 innings.
'Wow. That's about all I can think to say.' said Dave Foutz following the
victory. 'If ever a team needed a win, it was us.'
