Sam Leever went the distance at Exposition Park where the Pittsburgh Pirates
beat the Boston Beaneaters 4 to 3.

Boston was unable to recover after Pittsburgh went ahead in the 5th inning
scoring one runner.  Boston threatened in the 9th but Pittsburgh was able to
put down the rally.  

Leever(10-9) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. The losing pitcher
was Kaiser Wilhelm(5-14).  'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them'
Boston's manager said. 'We did what we could, we just didn't pull out the
win. What can you say?'
