Doug Crothers came through with a solid 9 innings and George Strief hit 2
doubles and had 2 RBI as the Kansas City Cowboys outscored the
Chicago-Pittsbg Stogies 8 to 0.

Crothers(2-2) was virtually untouchable.  He didn't allow much, just 4 hits
and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 0.77 to 0.56.  Kansas City
managed 7 hits in their victory.  

Al Atkinson(2-4) suffered the loss. 'When Crothers is on like that it is a
tough game to play, no doubt about it,' Ed Hengel said. 'He always pitches
well against us.'
