Scott Stratton pitched a complete game as the Louisville Colonels beat the Cincinnati Red Stockings by a score of 9 to 6. In the 2nd inning Louisville went on top for good scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. The highlight belonged to Stratton who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he doubled plating two runs. Cincinnati threatened in the 9th but Louisville was able to put down the rally. Stratton(3-12) got the victory, allowing 6 runs for the game. The loss was charged to Mike Smith(4-11). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. Gus Schmelz was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!'
