WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Fred Clarke robbed Heinie Peitz of a Homerun!

Red Ehret allowed Buck Ewing to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game and
first baseman Farmer Vaughn had 2 base hits and 6 RBI at League Park as the
Cincinnati Reds belted the Louisville Colonels by the count of 21 to
7.

Vaughn had a big day at the plate. He slapped a single in the 5th inning and
doubled clearing the bases in the 6th inning. Cincinnati bats were very
productive in the 1st inning when they had 5 runs on 5 hits and the 6th
inning which saw them score 6 runs on 4 hits. Offensively, Cincinnati was a
juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

The victory was credited to Ehret(12-11) who went the distance, allowing 7
runs. Bill Hill(8-18) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 22 hits and 9
walks in 8 innings.
