Cy Young was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game as the Boston Americans outscored the Detroit Tigers 4 to 2.
Boston won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 2 runs
on 3 base hits. Freddy Parent led off and keyed the rally when he lined a
single. Parent was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Candy
Lachance then doubled knocking in a run. Hobe Ferris followed next and he
reached on an error. After another out, Young was a strikeout victim, unable
to help out. Kip Selbach added to the outburst and banged out a single
scoring the final run of the inning. Detroit went down without a fight in
the bottom of the 9th.
Young(14-12) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Wild Bill
Donovan(8-12) was charged with the loss. Boston now has a record of 50-43.
