The Philadelphia-NL Phillies edged the St. Louis-AL Browns at Sportsmans Park
by the score of 4 to 3.

St. Louis-AL fell behind quickly as the Philadelphia-NL offense came through
in the first inning scoring 2 runs on 4 hits. Jack Hannifin led off and got
things going when he slapped a one-base hit. Nap Lajoie stepped into the
batter's box and he laced a base-knock. Joe Tinker then ripped a single
bringing in a run. John Titus was up next and he grounded into a double play
scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis-AL threatened in the 9th but
Philadelphia-NL was able to put down the rally.

The victory was credited to Nick Maddox(8-8) who went 6 innings, allowing 2
runs. Carl Lundgren recorded the save, his 3rd. Ed Reulbach(8-14) was tagged
with the loss.

Tim Singer was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press
box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
