Right fielder Zack Wheat had 3 base hits and Chief Bender delivered 9 solid
innings as the Boston-AL Red Sox defeated the Washington Nationals 6 to 2 at
American League Park.

Boston-AL jumped on top to stay in the 3rd inning plating an isolated run on 2
base hits.  Boston-AL totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.  

Bender(8-13) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Bob
Ewing(6-5) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 6 runs and 13 hits in 8
innings.
