WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Harry Hooper robbed Gus Fisher of an extra base hit.

Center fielder Tris Speaker had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Huntington Ave. Grds
as the Boston Red Sox staged a comeback win over the Cleveland Naps by the
count of 8 to 7.

Boston came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Les Nunamaker began the
rally when he delivered a one-base hit. Thoney then stole second base. Bill
Carrigan then slapped a base-hit. Boston continued their aggressive style
with another stolen base. Harry Hooper stepped into the box and was walked
intentionally to load the bases. One out later, Speaker came up and he
slapped a base-hit making Boston the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings
was still not enough for Cleveland to come away with the victory.

Charley Hall(8-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Fred Blanding(6-10) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed
2 runs and 4 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.

'What a win!', Hall said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in your
mind at the end of a season.'
