The mighty Detroit Tigers edged the Washington Nationals at Griffith Stadium
by the score of 3 to 2.
Bill Steen(8-5) earned his pay with a solid performance for Detroit. He went
6 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 walks. Washington had a chance to
come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Red Oldham was credited with his 8th save. The losing pitcher was Walter
Johnson(16-9). Clark Griffith was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one
really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we
could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!'
