Ed Morris delivered 9 solid innings and Tom Brown had 2 base hits as the
Pittsburgh Alleghenys outscored the St. Louis Browns 3 to 2.

Morris(27-18) was in control of the game from the outset.  He didn't give up
much, just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.  St. Louis threatened in the 9th
but Pittsburgh was able to put down the rally.  

Bob Caruthers(24-12) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered just 5 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings.  'He came out with good stuff,' Horace Phillips said about
Morris. 'He threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'
