Mike Tiernan had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Les German went the distance as the
New York Giants bested the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings 10 to 9 at
Polo Grounds.

Both teams had scored 8 runs after nine full innings. New York won it in the
10th inning. General Stafford led off and started the attack as he drew a
walk. Tim Keefe then threw one that got by the catcher for a passed ball.
Monte Ward then laced a one-base hit. Tiernan followed next and he ripped a
single plating a run. Tiernan took second on the throw. George Davis
stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases. Roger Connor kept
things alive and lashed a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for New York
and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. A wild and woolly
affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

German(5-2) finished the game allowing 9 runs in the victory. Keefe(16-4) was
hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and 7 walks in 9
innings.
