In a great finish the Pittsburgh Pirates came back in the top of the ninth and held on to win over the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by a score of 12 to 11 at Columbia Park. Pittsburgh came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Billy Gilbert led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Tommy Corcoran came up and he doubled, and an error was also committed, knocking home two runners. Philadelphia-AL went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th. Bob Wicker(12-17) got the win allowing 1 run in 3 innings. Jock Menefee(4-7) was hit with the loss in relief. Pittsburgh knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 4 runs in 3 innings. 'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Menefee said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
