The Philadelphia-NL Phillies defeated the Chicago-NL Cubs by a score of 5 to 2
at West Side Park.

Philadelphia-NL tallied 3 runs in the 6th inning. Admiral Schlei led off and
he drew a walk.  George Winter stepped up to the plate and he laced a
base-hit.  After an out was recorded, Ernie Courtney then doubled bringing in
two baserunners.  Davy Jones came up and he worked the squeeze play to
perfection scoring the final run of the inning.  Philadelphia-NL ended up
with 12 hits for the game while Chicago-NL had 4.  

The victory was credited to Winter(9-14) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing
2 runs. Winter got relief help from Three Finger Brown who gained credit for
his 9th save.  Jack Chesbro(5-6) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked
around by Philadelphia-NL, allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.
