2,734 fans were treated to a fine game at Polo Grounds as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The New York Yankees won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Finally, New York
prevailed in the 10th inning.  Fritz Maisel drew a walk.  Two outs later
Roger Peckinpaugh came to the plate and lined a single resulting in an
exciting win for New York and a raucous post-game celebration by the home
town fans.  New York totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.  

Ray Fisher(7-12) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Dwight
Stone(5-5) suffered the loss in relief.  He allowed 3 hits and 2 walks in 2
and 2/3 innings.  

The New York ballclub's record now stands at 32-69.  St. Louis has a record of
47-65 after the loss.
