The St. Louis Browns and the Boston Red Sox locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Fenway Park.  The final score was the St. Louis Browns 3, the Boston
Red Sox 2 in 11 innings.

Neither team managed to score in the first nine innings.  St. Louis won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Jimmy
Austin started the rally when he delivered a base-hit.  One out later, Del
Pratt came to bat and was walked intentionally.  Tilly Walker then drew a
walk to load the bases.  Ivan Howard followed next and he lined a one-base
hit which was good for two runs.  Howard took second on the throw.  Doc Lavan
came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Sam Agnew
contributed to the rally and lined a single scoring the final run of the
inning.  St. Louis finished with just 6 hits in the victory.  

Bill James(9-9) went 10 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. James was
helped out by Tom Phillips who recorded his 1st save.  Dutch Leonard(5-6)
took the loss.  He allowed 6 hits and 5 walks in 11 innings.
