Mel Parnell had a complete game and right fielder Del Ennis had 2 base hits at
Crosley Field where the New York-AL Yankees beat the Cincinnati Reds 5 to
3.

New York-AL drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
when they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits.  That early run support was enough
for Parnell(8-6) and New York-AL.  Both teams' bats went to sleep after the
4th inning with no runs scored after that point.  

The losing pitcher was Johnny Sain(7-15).  He gave up 5 runs and 7 hits in 8
