In an embarrassing outing for the Boston-AL Red Sox pitching staff, Cincinnati
Reds flexed their collective muscle amassing 10 runs as Jim Hearn(8-5), with
relief help from Preacher Roe, shut-down Boston-AL.

Boston-AL found themselves trailing quickly as the Cincinnati bats came
through in the first inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. That was all
Hearn needed. Cincinnati kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they
scored in 6 different innings.

Roe was credited with his 12th save. Max Lanier(1-12) was the losing pitcher.
Cincinnati scored big getting 4 runs off him in 3 and 1/3 innings.

With this win, Cincinnati has a 59-48 record. They have been 4-6 lately. Mel
Gross was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing
games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
