Nap Lajoie had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the New York-AL Highlanders came back to
win one over Philadelphia-NL Phillies, 9 to 8.

New York-AL scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning plating
3 runs utilizing 4 base hits.  Lajoie got things going when he doubled.
Socks Seybold came next and he doubled scoring a single run.  Herm McFarland
then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Wid Conroy followed and he doubled plating
one more runner.  Charles Moran came up to bat and drew a walk.  John Warner
contributed to the rally and slapped a base-hit making New York-AL the
victors to the delight of the home town faithful.  New York-AL finished with
18 hits while Philadelphia-NL ended up with 15.  

The victory was credited to Jim Hackett(5-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Fred Mitchell(5-13) absorbed the loss in relief.  

'Wow, that was fun!', Hackett said following the game.  'Once in a while you
play a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin
with!'
