639 fans watched an exciting game at South End Grounds. The Boston Braves
topped the floundering Chicago Cubs by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.

Ed Donnelly(3-7) got the win but did not look spectacular. He gave up 6 runs,
12 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings and allowed 2 gopher balls. Chicago
threatened in the 9th but Boston was able to put down the rally.

Walt Dickson recorded his 5th save. Charlie Smith(5-1) was given the loss in
relief. 'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Frank Chance said.
'We did what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
