In a tight game it was the St. Louis-AL Browns 9, the Chicago-NL Cubs 7 at
Sportsman'S Park.

Ray Caldwell(10-4) pitched okay, well enough for the win. He was reached for 6
hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.  Chicago-NL tried unsuccessfully to
come back in the 9th.  

Caldwell got relief help from Hank Robinson who gained credit for his 44th
save.  Larry Cheney(14-10) was the loser.  He struggled with his control
issuing 8 walks in 5 innings.  

The St. Louis-AL ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 74-45.
With the loss, Chicago-NL has a record of 5-5 lately, 56-56 overall.
