WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Larry McLean blocked the plate, saving a run!

Third baseman Tillie Shafer had 2 base hits and Al Demaree completed the game
without help from the bullpen at Ebbets Field where the New York Giants beat
the Brooklyn Superbas in 10 innings by the score of 2 to 1.

The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings. New York won it in the 10th

Larry Doyle stepped in and he was walked intentionally. Fred Merkle then
ripped a base-knock to load the bases. Red Murray followed and he delivered
a single scoring the run. Murray took second on the throw. Brooklyn out-hit
