Baseballs were flying all over the ballpark as the Cincinnati Reds ran
roughshod over the seemingly hapless hapless Philadelphia Phillies. The
Cincinnati offense rolled up a total of 12 runs!.

It was a good day for Cincinnati thanks to Bob Elliott. He ripped a one-base
hit bringing in a run in the 5th inning and launched a Grand Slam homerun in
the 8th inning. Cincinnati finished with 13 hits while Philadelphia ended up
with 7.

The winning pitcher was Dick Fowler(9-6) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings.
Fowler got help from Ted Wilks who was credited with his 12th save. Curt
Simmons(4-14) was given the loss. He surrendered 7 runs in 5 innings and saw
his ERA increase from 4.87 to 5.16.
