Duke Snider hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Pittsburgh Pirates in 14 innings by the score of 8 to 7 at Wrigely
Field.

Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Chicago-NL
prevailed in the 14th inning.  After two outs Ferris Fain singled.  Eddie
Mathews next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Snider then doubled resulting
in a mighty exciting win for Chicago-NL and the 20,478 home town fans in
attendance.  Pittsburgh had 15 hits in the game while Chicago-NL had 11, but
Chicago-NL had the more timely hits.  

The win was credited to Bob Miller(2-8) who went 5 innings allowing no runs.
Dick Donovan(4-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.
