Detroit had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. Hardy Richardson led off the inning for Detroit when he reached on an error. Dan Brouthers came to the plate and slapped a base-hit. Jack Rowe then doubled bringing in a run. Sam Thompson was up next and he ripped a base-knock as two more runners crossed the plate. Detroit managed 12 hits in their victory. Getzien(16-6) was the winner allowing 6 runs for the game. John Clarkson(25-11) was hit with the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Cap Anson was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us this afternoon' SCORESHEET: 1887 Detroit Wolverines at 1887 Chicago White Stockings H.Richar-A1 A1:E/6 B1:Si>23 C1:L/3 *7*:K *9*:E/3 P.Conway-E2 F.Dunlap-E7 D.Brouth-A1 A2:HBP>12 B2:CS/26> *6*:Si D2:Si E2:Si>12 1o G/63>3 # J.Rowe-A1 A3:P/4 B3:L/3 C3:SB>12 D3:W>12 b E3:Do>2# E/1>23 1 13 S.Thomps-A1 A4:G-DP/1 *4*:L/6 C4:Force/ D4:G-DP/5 E4:Si>3# 63>1o 54>3# 1o 4>2o 1o 2# b1 D.White-A1 *2*:Si+E/ B5:L/5 C5:Si>12 *8*:G/13 E5:P/4 6 L.Twitch-A1 A6:F/8 B6:K C6:WP>23 D6:F/9 E6:CS/24> 12 Do>3# 1o G/53 2# N.Hanlon-A1 A7:G/53 *5*:W>b1 C7:G/43>2 D7:Si 3 C.Bennet-A1 A8:F/9 B8:K C8:W>b1 D8:SB>12 Si>2# P.Getzie-A1 *3*:Do B9:Sac/54 C9:G/63 D9:F/8 >12 B.Sunday-A1 A1:E/7>b2 B1:G/53>3 C1:Do *7*:W>b1 E1:K # J.Ryan-A1 A2:CS/25> B2:W>b1 C2:CS/25> D2:P-DP/1 E2:E/6 2o Do 2o K 4>1o M.Sulliv-A1 A3:Si>2# B3:NOTE *5*:F/8 D3:K E3:G/53 C.Anson-A1 A4:SB+E/2 *3*:W>b1 C4:W>b1 *8*:Si >13 W>b1 F.Pfeffe-A1 A5:L/6 B5:SB>12 C5:G-DP/3 D5:L/5 HR>2# b# 63>1o N.Willia-A1 A6:W>12 b B6:K *6*:E/5>b D6:L/6 1 2 T.Burns-A1 A7:G/13 B7:G/63 C7:G/63 D7:Tr>1# S.Flint-A1 *2*:Do B8:G/63 C8:K D8:FO/2 J.Clarks-A1 A9:Tr>2# *4*:F/9 C9:L/6 *9*:K D.Darlin-D9
