Jake Beckley cracked 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at Polo Grounds as the
Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Giants 8 to 6.

Beckley led the offense for Cincinnati.  He lined a one-base hit in the 6th
inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 8th inning and blasted a solo shot
in the 9th inning.  Cincinnati finished with 14 hits while New York ended up
with 8.  

Henry Thielman(6-8) got the win allowing 6 runs in 8 innings. Thielman was
helped out by Mike Donlin who recorded his 2nd save.  Christy Mathewson(9-12)
absorbed the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits and 2 walks in 8 and
1/3 innings.  

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Thielman, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
