First baseman Stuffy McInnis had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Ed Walsh came through
with a solid 9 innings as the incredible St. Louis-AL Browns destroyed the
Chicago-NL Cubs by a score of 14 to 0 at Sportsman'S Park.

McInnis enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He tripled bringing in a run in the
1st inning, laced a base-knock in the 4th inning, banged out a single
resulting in a run in the 5th inning and singled bringing home two
baserunners in the 8th inning. St. Louis-AL provided plenty of action in the
1st inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning which saw them
score 6 runs on 6 hits. St. Louis-AL had 20 hits for the afternoon.

It was the 4th shutout of the year for Walsh(20-10). Russ Ford(11-8) ended up
with the loss. He was unable to control the St. Louis-AL offense and allowed
13 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.

'When Walsh is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,'
Lee Palmer said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
