Ernie Shore didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and Del Gainer had 2 base
hits and 4 RBI as the Washington Nationals were badly beaten by the strong
Boston Red Sox, 15 to 0.

Shore(12-4) escaped virtually unscathed against the Washington hitters. He
was stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings. The
right-handed Shore lost his no-hit bid when Joe Boehling singled with two
outs in the 6th inning. Boston bats were very productive in the 3rd inning
with 6 runs on 6 hits. Boston dominated offensively as they scored in 6
different innings.

The loss was charged to Boehling(10-13). He allowed 15 hits and 4 walks in 5
innings. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances today,' Clark Griffith said.
'Shore just was too much for our guys.'
