George Van Haltren had 2 base hits and 4 RBI and Ad Gumbert pitched a complete
game as the Chicago White Stockings defeated the Philadelphia Quakers by a
score of 13 to 9 at West Side Park.

Chicago brought 6 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they came up
with 6 base hits.  It was enough to earn the victory.  Despite scoring in 5
separate innings, Philadelphia could not get the win.  

The win was credited to Gumbert(13-7) who went the whole way allowing 9 runs.
The loss was charged to Kid Gleason(3-11).  He got hit pretty hard, allowing
15 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
