Monte Cross had 2 base hits at West Side Park as the Chicago-NL Cubs won a
thriller over the Pittsburgh Pirates in, 5 to 4.

The deciding run was scored by Chicago-NL in the bottom of the 9th.  After an
out was recorded, Mike Grady drew a walk.  Cross followed and he tripled
making Chicago-NL the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Despite losing, Pittsburgh out-hit Chicago-NL 12 to 7.  

Chick Robitaille(5-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and
allowing no runs. Frank Smith(9-6) absorbed the loss in relief.
