WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Granny Hamner robbed Bill Salkeld of a base hit.

In a lop-sided win the New York Yankees ripped the Pittsburgh Pirates by a 18
to 5 count.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Del Ennis. He doubled in the 3rd inning, cleared the fences for
a two-run home run in the 5th inning and tripled bringing in a run in the 8th
inning. New York kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning when they had
5 runs on 5 hits, the 4th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning
with 4 runs. New York had 19 hits for the night while Pittsburgh had 10.

Ken Heintzelman(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings.
Early Wynn(3-12) ended up with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 innings
of work.
