Right fielder Monte Irvin blasted a homerun as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated
the lifeless Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 9 to 2 at Wrigley
Field.
Chicago-NL was unable to climb back into it after Pittsburgh went ahead for
good in the 4th inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. For the game
Pittsburgh out-hit Chicago-NL 15 to 7.
Allie Reynolds(14-4) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the win. The losing
pitcher was Bubba Church(5-8). He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 3
walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
The winning ways continue for Pittsburgh. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. With this loss, Chicago-NL has a 4-6 record of late, 50-76
