Toad Ramsey went the distance as the Louisville Colonels rallied impressively
to win in dramatic style over Baltimore Orioles, 4 to 3.

Louisville had the game winning rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 2
hits. Guy Hecker led off and keyed the rally when he stroked a single, and
an error was also committed. Matt Kilroy then threw a high and inside pitch
that got by the catcher; it was ruled a passed ball. Ramsey followed, but he
was set down on strikes. John Kerins followed and he reached on an error
which plated a run. Pete Browning stepped into the box and tripled, and an
error was also committed, resulting in an exciting win for Louisville and a
raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Both teams ended up
with 6 hits on the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Ramsey(30-18) who allowed 3 runs for the game.
Kilroy(19-21) was the loser. He struck out 15 batters in 8 and 1/3 innings
despite losing the game.

'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Tom Terrell noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'
