Ted Lewis went the distance at South End Grounds as the Boston Beaneaters won
a thriller over the Cleveland Spiders in, 3 to 2.

Boston scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  After an out
was recorded, Marty Bergen lined a single, and an error was also committed.
Bobby Lowe next to the plate and he reached on an error resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Boston and the 5,139 home town fans in attendance.  Both
teams ended up with 5 hits on the afternoon.  

The victory went to Lewis(13-7) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Jack
Powell(11-15) absorbed the loss.  With this win, Boston has a 55-44 record.
They have been 5-5 lately.  With the loss, the Cleveland ballclub's record is
55-43.
