Lee Tannehill had 2 base hits at Palace Of The Fans as the Cincinnati Reds
beat the St. Louis-AL Browns by the count of 5 to 0.

Mathewson(17-16) dominated St. Louis-AL hitters.  He allowed just 3 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings.  Mathewson recorded 10 strikeouts.  The pitchers took over
after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.  

Ed Killian(5-13) was given the loss.  He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 2 and
2/3 innings.  Doug Hatch was asked about the performance of Mathewson, 'He
had his good stuff out there this afternoon.  The fans really get into it
when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
