WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Andy Seminick blocked the plate, saving a run!

Left fielder Dick Wakefield homered and had 5 RBI at Cleveland Stadium as the
Philadelphia Phillies, running on all cylinders, ripped the Cleveland Indians
by a large 13 to 2 margin.

Wakefield enjoyed a great day at the plate. He tripled with all three runners
coming home in the 2nd inning, smacked a single in the 5th inning and smashed
a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. Philadelphia provided plenty of
action in the 2nd inning which saw them score 4 runs on 5 hits and the 5th
inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits. Philadelphia kept the pressure
on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

Murry Dickson(7-11) allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Howie Pollet(9-9) was charged with the loss. He got hammered,
allowing 15 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Wakefield said. 'I'm
glad I decided to play!'
