At Forbes Field the Pittsburgh Pirates were battered 9 to 4 by the Washington
Nationals.

Washington scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 2nd inning when they had 4
base hits.  They would prove to be the difference in the contest.  Washington
had 18 hits for the afternoon while Pittsburgh had 11.  

The win was credited to Bob Feller(11-8) who went 8 innings allowing 4 runs.
Joe Dobson(3-14) was tagged with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 11 hits
and 2 walks in 5 innings.
