In a two run game the New York-AL Yankees ended a long winless drought and got by the Cleveland Indians by the score of 10 to 8. New York-AL jumped on top to stay in the top of the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit. The critical plate appearance was by Richie Ashburn who quieted the home crowd when he tripled plating two runs. Cleveland scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory. Joe Dobson(2-7) went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Fred Sanford recorded the save, his 1st. The loss was charged to Mike Garcia(14-8). He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 3 innings. 'It felt really nice to get this win,' Dobson said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.'
