In the 3rd inning Cincinnati scored 2 runs with the help of 3 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ted Kluszewski who made the crowd come alive when he smashed a two-run homer. Cleveland made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. The victory was credited to Bob Porterfield(12-5) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs. Porterfield got help from Ernie Johnson who was credited with his 23rd save. Tom Morgan(2-5) absorbed the loss. He allowed Cincinnati 5 runs in 4 innings of work. 'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Rob Hickok, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
