First baseman Cap Anson had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Dick McBride had a complete
game at Jefferson St Grounds as the Philadelphia A Athletics belted the
Washington Nationals by the count of 19 to 4.

Anson had a good day at the plate.  He ripped a one-base hit in the 1st
inning, slapped a base-hit in the 4th inning, tripled emptying the bases in
the 5th inning and delivered a single in the 8th inning.  Philadelphia A lit
up the scoreboard in the 3rd inning with 4 runs on 5 hits and the 5th inning
which saw them score 6 runs on 4 hits.  The Philadelphia A offense
man-handled the Washington pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9
innings.  

McBride(17-11) allowed 4 runs on the game. Bill Stearns(6-16) was given the
loss.  He gave up 19 runs in 8 innings of work.
