Bill Phillips had 2 base hits and Jim McCormick came through with a solid 9
innings at Kennard Street Park as the Cleveland Blues beat the Detroit
Wolverines 3 to 2.
In the 2nd inning Cleveland went on top for good plating one baserunner using
2 hits. Orator Shafer stroked a single. After an out was recorded, Jack
Glasscock came up and he laced a single. Mike Moynahan then hit a deep fly
scoring the run. Detroit threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.
McCormick(18-25) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. George
Derby(33-14) was the loser. 'I thought it was my best performance in a long
time,' said McCormick. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my
control and composure and everything went well.'
