Ed Seward went the distance at Sportsman's Park as the Philadelphia Athletics
beat the St. Louis Browns 9 to 5.

Philadelphia won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning with 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Orator Shafer led off the inning for
Philadelphia when he laced a base-knock.  Shafer was safe on a stolen base.
After an out was recorded, Joe Kappel then reached on an error.  Seward
followed and he laced a single, and an error was also committed, which scored
a run.  After another out, Curt Welch came to bat and tripled with two more
runners crossing home.  Philadelphia managed 13 hits in their victory.  

The victory was credited to Seward(6-8) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. Jack Stivetts(18-14) was the loser.  He got hammered, allowing 13 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings.
