Mike O'Neill pitched a complete game as the St. Louis Cardinals bested the
Brooklyn Superbas 4 to 2 at Robison Field.

St. Louis brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning with
the help of 4 hits. O'Neill led off the inning for St. Louis when he lashed
a single. Roy Brashear followed and he reached on an error. Homer Smoot
then smacked a single to load the bases. One out later, Patsy Donovan came
to bat and hit a deep fly plating a run. Smoot took off for second and slid
in with a stolen base. John Farrell kept the inning going and ripped a
one-base hit which accounted for two additional runs. That was all the
offense they were to need. St. Louis rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to O'Neill(8-13) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
The losing pitcher was Jim Hughes(13-9). He surrendered 4 runs and 8 hits in
8 innings.
