In a startling finish the Brooklyn Dodgers staged a comeback then held on to
win over the dreadful Boston-NL Braves by a score of 7 to 4 at South End
Grounds.

Brooklyn came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning when they
came up with 5 runs on 2 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by
Mickey Doolin who silenced the stadium when he tripled with all three
baserunners touching home. Brooklyn took care of Boston-NL with no trouble
in the bottom of the 9th.

The victory was credited to Doc White(7-13) who went 8 innings, allowing 4
runs. Harry McIntire earned the save, his 18th. Frank Smith(6-8) absorbed
the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
not allowing an earned run.

Mike Etters was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
