Ossie Vitt had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
pathetic New York Highlanders by the score of 12 to 3 at Hilltop Park.
New York was unable to recover after Detroit went ahead in the 3rd inning when
they came up with 3 runs on 4 hits. The critical plate appearance was by
Vitt who deflated the crowd as he doubled bringing home two baserunners.
Detroit had 14 hits for the afternoon while New York had 7.
Ralph Works(3-12) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Iron
Davis(3-1) was given the loss. He struggled with his control issuing 9 walks
in 5 and 2/3 innings.
The Detroit ballclub's record now stands at 47-67. With the loss, the New York
ballclub's record is 39-69.
