Left fielder Ralph Kiner slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the New York
Yankees outscored the Cincinnati Reds 7 to 6.

Kiner was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 1st
inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 3rd
inning. Cincinnati had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The win went to Robin Roberts(10-7) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Lloyd Hittle earned his 1st save. Dutch Leonard(5-11) ended up with the
loss. He allowed New York 7 runs in 6 innings of work.

Rob Hickok was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
