TEAM RISP- Gladiators: 3 for 13 Maumees: 11 for 23

Ed Swartwood launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Ed Cushman had a complete
game as the streaking Toledo Maumees defeated the hapless Brooklyn Gladiators
by a score of 17 to 8 at Speranza Park.

Swartwood was really 'in the zone'. He ripped a base-hit in the 3rd inning,
tripled in the 5th inning, slapped a single in the 6th inning, lost the ball
over the fence for three runs in the 7th inning and popped a two-run clout
over the fence in the 8th inning. Toledo kept the scorekeepers busy in the
6th inning which saw them score 5 runs on 6 hits and the 7th inning when they
had 5 runs on 3 hits. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home
town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

The winning pitcher was Cushman(11-16) who allowed 8 runs for the game. Tom
Ford(1-4) was given the loss. He was unable to control the Toledo offense
and allowed 21 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings.

No one has been able to stop Toledo lately as they lengthened their winning
streak to 7 games.
