Catcher Jocko Milligan had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Ben Sanders went the distance
as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Washington Statesmen by a score of
9 to 8 at Boundary Field.

Milligan enjoyed a fine day at the plate.  He doubled scoring a run in the 1st
inning, doubled which scored a run in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 8th
inning and tripled which plated a run in the 9th inning.  Even though they
scored in 5 different innings, Washington was not able to pull off the win.

Sanders(11-4) was the winner allowing 8 runs for the game. Frank
Foreman(12-14) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 16 hits and no walks in 9
innings.
