Pink Hawley allowed Buck Ewing to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Cincinnati Reds outscored the New York Giants 8 to 6.

Cincinnati scored the winning runs in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs.
Kip Selbach kicked off the action when he delivered a one-base hit. Bid
McPhee stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Harry Steinfeldt
then reached on an error which brought home a run. After an out was
recorded, Buck Ewing then called for a steal which was successful scoring the
final run of the inning. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home
town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Hawley(10-11) lasted until the end allowing 6 runs for the win. Cy
Seymour(4-15) was given the loss. He struggled with his control issuing 16
walks in 9 innings.

The Cincinnati ballclub's record now stands at 47-52. New York can't seem to
snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over
the last couple weeks.
