Joe Stanley had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Washington Nationals bested the St.
Louis Browns in 10 innings 8 to 7 at American League Park.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings.  Washington was victorious in
the 10th inning.  Dave Altizer led off and started the attack as he laced a
single.  Charlie Hickman stepped into the batter's box and he hit a single.
John Anderson then hit a deep fly which scored a run.  Larry Schlafly was up
next and he drew a walk.  Stanley stepped into the box and reached on an
error.  Stanley added to the rally and ripped a base-hit making Washington
the winners and sending the 1,326 fans home happy.  Both teams totaled 13
hits on the afternoon.  

Charlie Smith(6-10) got the win allowing 3 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Ed
Smith(10-6) was given the loss in relief.  The Washington ballclub's record
now stands at 33-71.  St. Louis has a record of 61-44 after the loss.
